Design Process
At Crocus Hill Design, each project begins with a commitment to clarity, intention, and care. Our process is shaped by traditional principles and refined through experience, allowing every idea to be thoughtfully considered and precisely realized. Design Phases
Phase I - Pre-Design
This process begins with an initial conversation to understand your vision and priorities. This phase may include a site visit to evaluate existing conditions and gather preliminary information. This is a time for thoughtful discussion, allowing us to determine scope and establish a clear path forward.
Phase II - Schematic Design
During schematic design, initial concepts are developed and translated into drawings that explore layout, flow, and spatial relationships. Through a series of design meetings, we review and refine these ideas, ensuring they align with both your vision and the practical considerations of the project.
Drawings at this stage may include existing and proposed floor plans, along with conceptual interior elevations.
Phase III - Design Development
With a clear direction established, the design is further developed and polished. Key elements, such as materials, architectural features, and functional systems are deliberately selected, resulting in a more complete set of drawings that prepare the project for execution.
Documentation at this stage may include existing floor plans, demolition plans, proposed floor plans, and an electrical layout.
Phase IV - Construction Documentation
This phase produces a comprehensive and coordinated set of drawings required for permitting and construction. Each element is carefully documented to ensure clarity and accuracy, providing a reliable foundation for construction.
Typical construction sets include all drawings from previous phases, and any additional drawings required to obtain permits and execute the full scope of work.
Phase V - Construction Administration - Optional
During construction, we may remain involved to help guide and oversee the construction process. Site visits and ongoing communication support alignment between the design intent and execution, allowing for resolution of questions and concerns as they arise.
Phase VI - Project Completion
As the project concludes, we ensure that every detail has been carefully addressed. This phase marks the transition from construction to living, as your home prepares to be experienced and enjoyed. We remain available beyond completion, supporting you as your home continues to evolve.
